Mother’s Day

Mom….Mom….MOM!!!!
The most precious sound there is. Being a mom has been my greatest gift in life. My heart overflows when I think how lucky I am and how I can’t imagine my life had I never had this name.
Every day I am thankful for the blessing of my son and my daughter. From the moment each of them was placed in my arms, they stole a piece of my heart. Those moments are almost indescribable. I thought I knew what love was, but becoming a mom is a different kind of love. You are no longer one, but part of a whole. You would do anything for them and protect them with your life. Your instincts are your guide for a job that has no manual. Motherhood presents you with challenges that change you, stretch you and force you to grow in ways that you never thought possible. You go from being selfish to selfless. Your wants and needs tend to go on the back burner because now your every waking moment becomes about the care and development of this child that you have been blessed with.
In the beginning moments, you stare in disbelief that this little bundle was created by you. You are in awe and taken to a place that you didn’t know existed. The simplest things from counting little fingers and toes, to the touch of the softness of their skin, to the smell of their scent, you hold them tight and never want to let go. Watching their every little first is like a sporting event with so much anticipation and complete elation with each success of the next step. The sleepless nights because they need you endlessly, to the sleepless nights as they are out discovering the world for themselves, play with your emotions and bring joy to your heart. You find yourself crying with happiness as they take their first steps to sobbing as they step out the door to start a life of their own. No matter what it is, you relish the moments.
There are many, many sayings about being a mom, but my favourite one is “As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be”, and I dedicate this to my children. They will always be my babies and I will always be their mom.
For me, “Mom” is the sweetest sound and one that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am both privileged and proud to say I am “mom” to two incredible children; Erik and Jessica. These two amazing human beings have brought so much joy to my world and I can’t imagine my life without them. I will be forever grateful to be their mom.
Happy Mother’s Day!
